4th Annual Redneck Rumble Performers
March 17, 2010
| Brad Johner |
| Brad Johner continues his hot streak at Canadian country with the release of his third solo album, "Lookin' At You."
One of Saskatchewan's most awarded and respected artists on the national stage, Johner has enjoyed over two decades of success as both a group and solo artist.
Audiences first met Johner in 1988, when a partnership with his brother Ken began a 14-year-long musical success story as The Johner Brothers. Garnering numerous CCMA, WCMA, and SCMA wins, three Juno nominations, and being crowned SCMA "Entertainers of the Decade" was a testament to Brad Johner's writing prowess that contributed to a remarkable 17 singles from four hit albums.
In 2003, Brad launched out as a solo artist with his critically acclaimed and Juno nominated "Free" album. The debut established Brad as one of Canada's leading male country stars, and awards and accolades followed, including a 2003 Western Canadian Music Award for "Outstanding Country Album," a win at the 2004 Canadian Independent Music Awards for "Favourite Country Artist," and after his sophomore solo release "Summertown Road", a Male Artist of the Year Award win at the 2007 Canadian Country Music Awards. |
| CRYSTAL SHAWANDA |
 |
I'm Native American. We're automatically country . joined to the land and the real stories of everyday people. A long time ago, we traditionally used music as our daily prayer and as our way of giving thanks. To Native Americans, music is our everything. It's our storytelling, our history, and our dance. We use it to remember and to forget. It's how we celebrate life and mourn death.
I wrote my first song at 9, not knowing that songwriting would become my way of coping with the hopelessness I saw around me on the reservation. Growing up, I watched too many people lose hope and leave this earth . including cousins and many friends of mine. I watched as my brothers lost almost every childhood friend before they were 16. But music was my hope. It saved me, and it became a doorway for me to find freedom from the hopelessness that we all felt on the reservation. Loretta Lynn was my childhood hero . and she continues to be that for me today. I grew up watching her be a friend to my mom through her music. Mom would sing along with those records like finally someone understood her. I want to be that for someone. I was born a country music singer. I was driven to sing, and I drove my parents nuts about it.
I'm a citizen of both the U.S. and Canada, though I was born in Ontario and grew up on a reservation called Wikwemikong on Canada's Manitoulin Island. My daddy drove a truck from Michigan straight through Nashville on his North-South run, so I had a ride whenever they would let me go. I started my trips to Nashville at the age of 11. We stood on the sidewalk in front of Nashville's famed Tootsie's Orchid Lounge and watched through the window. I was scared I would be told I wasn't good enough. By 12, I had written enough songs to do my own little demo album which I sold back home to pay for more trips to Nashville. Country music had become my full time way of relating to my world. If I couldn't write and sing, I couldn't talk and feel. |

| WYATT |
 |
Ride along the gritty edge of rock to the heart of country and you’ll find yourself moving to the sounds of WYATT in Rock Country. WYATT, an original 4-piece band from Saskatoon, drives the sound of progressive country bands like Emerson Drive and Doc Walker and grounds it with the depth and groove of Tom Petty. Imagine old school southern rock combined with the rich, vocal flavours of Bon Jovi, The Eagles and Rascal Flatts…..this is Rock Country. Together, singer-guitarists Scott Patrick and Daniel Fortier, drummer Bray Hudson and bassist Cam Ewart have a sound and a commanding on-stage chemistry that instantly converts audiences to fans.
WYATT has been busy not-so-quietly building a strong following in Western Canada over the last couple of years. 2007 saw them walk confidently into the limelight with showcases at JUNOFEST, SCMA's, and CCMA's, and celebrate the release of their debut album 'Hard Road'. This gritty album mixes soaring guitars with beautiful vocal melodies through the universal themes of living, loving & losing and is chock-full of infectious tunes including "This Town", "I Don’t Mind", “Like We Belong” and the title track "Hard Road”. |

Amy Nelson … not your average high school music teacher. Amy doesn’t spend much time in the classroom these days as she is very busy with her main career as a Canadian recording music artist.
Prior to pursuing a career in performing, Amy earned a degree in Music Education at the University of Regina. She has been taking private music lessons for many years and continues to train regularly with a professional vocal coach in Edmonton. All of this hard work is paying off, as she was nominated for both the "Female Vocalist of the Year" and the "All Star Band- Keys" awards at the 2009 Saskatchewan Country Music Awards.
Amy's self-titled debut CD was released in April 2009. Produced by Brad Prosko of B-rad Studio, the songs feature talented musicians such as Murray Pulver (Doc Walker), Travis Switzer (Deric Ruttan), and Jayson Brinkworth (Aaron Pritchett). This CD showcases 6 original, radio quality songs with full production and was funded in part by SaskMusic.

Vern’s history goes back to the late 80’s touring all over Western Canada. He enjoyed much success in the 90's as the guitar player for Edmonton's much sought after cabaret act. "Blackwater Jack". They released one CD that garnered not only "gig" sales but radio play for the Vern Michaels penned "Delta Blue".
He’s been making waves around his current home province of Saskatchewan and throughout Western Canada with his own band since 2002, regularly appearing at all of the top clubs and casinos, and rockin’ up many headline appearances at special events, and cabarets everywhere! He has shared stages with Canadian artists like Trooper, Honeymoon Suite, Prism, Sass Jordan, and The Ozark Mountain Daredevils.
The live show is a varied mixture of a little energy infused classic country and the best classic rock covers, mixed with samples from the new disc, all delivered with an energy and enthusiasm that rubs off on all those at the event! Weather it’s a small "pub" show or the "big stage" you’ll kick, stomp, smile and drink it up cuz this is a party baby! ....and that's a good thing isn't it??...
